"Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong."
Oh lovely Ella. It would have been her 100th birthday this week so I wanted to share a song of hers. I remember a holiday in Spain where we played her albums over and over and lazed by the pool and it was just perfect. Her rhythm and improvisation in this performance is just wonderful. Enjoy!
"You can go a lot of different directions from being nothing." - Iggy Pop
Well, this is just wonderful. Last weekend, Mary Anne Hobbs interviewed Iggy Pop for his 70th birthday celebrations and the result is a conversation full of wit, wisdom, creativity and that wonderful voice. Put aside 30 minutes and enjoy.

"I will fly swift and true straight to you like an arrow..."
Ah... The lyrics to this song. And the 80s sound, to me reminiscent of Prefab Sprout and Scritti Politti. Beautiful and perfect for a Sunday.
An early Sunday song this week as I'm taking a little Easter break. This beauty was introduced to me by Mary Anne Hobbs's show a year or so ago. I listened to it on headphones while walking through the blossom in Regents Park and was taken to another place. Just magical. Happy Easter my lovelies!
I heard this song in a restaurant last week for the first time in such a long time. So perfect as the sun starts to show itself.
This came up on shuffle on my iPhone this week. A great tune to walk around town to, especially 1 min 30 seconds in when it gets going. Turn it up loud : )
Sundays are perfect for playing music loud. This song reminds me of one of the most brilliant weekends of my life and the opening chords instantly take me back there. Perfect Sunday escapism.
The sun shone yesterday and it was amazing to feel the warmth. This song came on the radio and made me feel like I should be on a road trip driving on the open road with the roof down.
Ryan Adams' new album Prisoner is out this week. To celebrate here's a peek at the first brilliant single, Do You Still Love Me? I've been listening to it on a loop. Perfect way to spend a Sunday. See below for a fantastic late night interview with Ryan. I always love hearing about his creative process and he's a really wonderful storyteller.
