Even The Thought Of Mulled Wine

I know, I know, it's too early to think about Christmas! But I've been designing a few more Christmas cards this week and it made me think of mulled wine. Or anything mulled really! The second I see it on a pub chalkboard I have to pop in to have a glass. Although my cousin would tell you I have absolutely no idea how to make it and she once found me just boiling red wine with an orange in it. This year, I will make it my goal to learn how to properly make it! I'll share the recipe here : )

Monday Movie - Serendipity

You know the Greeks didn't write obituaries. They only asked one question after a man died, "Did he have passion?"

Serendipity is the perfect film for when the clocks go back. Yes, it's a romcom and yes, it's totally predictable but as the days get shorter, I love a cosy movie and this one manages to be romantic without being totally saccharine. John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale have great chemistry but Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon as their two friends really make it for me. Plus there's a great soundtrack including this beauty by Nick Drake.

Makelight

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Emily Quinton's Makelight studio earlier this year to attend a watercolour course. It's such a beautiful place, absolutely full of light and inspiration. Meeting Emily and seeing her studio really made me think about how you can create your own creative life. Emily runs courses, teaches photography and blogs / writes about her experience and life. I find her really inspiring and love her newsletters arriving in my inbox. Have a little nose around her website and blog, I hope she inspires you too. After all, who wouldn't want to make light?

Illustration Inspiration - Holly Exley

I can't remember how I first stumbled across Holly Exley's YouTube videos but I'm so glad I did. Holly gives a lovely, gentle insight into her life as a freelance illustrator with beautifully made videos. If you haven't seen her channel before, have a little look, it's a lovely way to while away an hour or so.

A Song For The Soul - Teardrops

Sometimes The Quiet Life is just all about the little bit of joy that a song can bring. This was the first song on my birthday playlist on Spotify. I invited as many friends as I could fit in my flat and we drank champagne and ate cake and cheese (random I know but it's what I wanted!) and danced around the room.

So stop whatever you are doing and have a little dance to this : )

The Simple Things

I buy magazines less and less these days but one that I love subscribing to is The Simple Things. It's such a treat and I always read it cover to cover. It's just the right balance of indulgent and informative with travel, recipes, lifestyle articles, music playlists, horticulture, herbs, creativity, stories and ideas for your home. I recommend it to everyone I know. Their website is lovely too for a lunchtime browse.

The Golden Girls

I was reading a post on the Yes & Yes blog today about ways to show people you love them. One of the little things suggested is sending the Golden Girls theme tune to your friends. It really made me smile as I refer to my friends as the Golden Girls (or GGs!) all the time. I'm sure lots of girls do the same thing which just shows how much impact the show had. So here's a little treat in honour of the brilliance of friends, play it loud : )
