Words On The Street
As you'll be starting to realise if you read this page regularly, I love spotting little details as I walk around the city, things that others may not have noticed. Here are a few of my spots from New York.
I was lucky enough to be working in New York last month. What a town! I had no idea how much I would love it. One of the places we visited was the Ace Hotel. I had read it was a place where writers, film makers and artists go for meetings and to work on their projects and sure enough the lobby was full of creative types chattering around MacBooks. I loved the feel of the hotel and all the little details in everything. It made me feel really inspired.
I heard this song in a restaurant last week for the first time in such a long time. So perfect as the sun starts to show itself.
This came up on shuffle on my iPhone this week. A great tune to walk around town to, especially 1 min 30 seconds in when it gets going. Turn it up loud : )
We couldn't get a table for lunch until 5pm so we thought we'd go with it and enjoy an Early Bird special dinner. Champagne at 5pm and home by nine, my new favourite thing!
Hello Springtime, my old friend. Suddenly everywhere is covered with blossom : )
I've been really inspired by YouTubers lately. When I was a teenager I loved making home movies. We used a massive clunky old video camera that you had to balance on your shoulder to film. Now you just need a phone and an idea. I filmed a few clips throughout January to play with and finally had time to cobble something together this weekend. It's my first real go at using iMovie and I have A LOT to learn but how brilliant is it that anyone with a phone and an internet connection can now make movies?
Fabulous illustrator Holly Exley posted a link to this video on Twitter this week. I've watched it several times already and it really speaks to the ambitious, excited, passionate creative in me. Really inspiring in a way I can't quite put into words.
Sundays are perfect for playing music loud. This song reminds me of one of the most brilliant weekends of my life and the opening chords instantly take me back there. Perfect Sunday escapism.
I looked up as I left a restaurant this week and saw this. In these times, it's all I want to say to everyone I meet. The full sign said, "Every day is a struggle, so we must be kind."
